  • At SWPA, we believe that the individual parts of identity are interconnected and must be considered as a whole to create holistic emotional health. Holistic emotional health looks like being able to clearly articulate and communicate personal boundaries, identify relationships that are generative versus relationships that are destructive, observe patterns of behavior that may not be in alignment with personal goals and values, and foster the ability to maintain peace during difficult conversations or transitions. Holistic emotional health also leads to increased emotional intelligence (EQ): self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills

  • We take it a step further! We are not only ‘queer-affirming,’ we are queer-competent. Many of our therapists are members of the queer community and have certifications and education specific to working with the queer community. We commit to radical inclusion and to maintaining an environment that is pro-LGBTQ+, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-classist, and anti-oppression of every kind. Regardless of how you identify, you are celebrated at SWPA.

  • Psychotherapy is for healing past traumas and gaining the tools to deal with emotional and relational challenges as they come. Psychiatry is medical support for management of the symptoms of trauma or emotional struggle to maintain a functional and peaceful quality of life. Coaching is the experience of having someone constantly on your team, encouraging you in your alignment with your values, purpose, and vocation. Coaches offer a non-clinical perspective and input on life choices and habits to support each client’s path to success.

  • The right practitioner will have specialized knowledge of your challenges and experience in treatment methods that have shown success for clients with similar challenges. While it may take some time to establish deep trust, the right practitioner will help you to feel immediately safe and heard.

  • We understand that life happens, and that there are times when you may need to reschedule. We ask that you please notify your practitioner at least twenty four (24) hours in advance. Clients who miss an appointment or reschedule without at least twenty four hours’ advance notice will be charged the full cost of the scheduled session.

  • SWPA does not accept insurance. Clients pay up front to their practitioner for their sessions, and your practitioner will provide you a “superbill” for the service that includes all the billing information your insurance requires. Clients then submit the superbill to their insurance (usually just a simple online upload), and the insurance company will reimburse Clients according to their Out of Network reimbursement rates, usually within a couple weeks. Please call your insurance company and ask about your “Out of network coverage for mental or behavioral health.”

  • Each of our practitioners accepts payment directly from their clients in the form of cash, check, and credit card.
