Services We Offer

We offer a range of services for a range of needs. Clients may engage with one or all of our offerings during the process of healing and growing. Each offering can be offered standalone or in conjunction with the others for a more robust experience. Below you will find a description of each of our services and how each one may be appropriate for you.

Individual Psychotherapy

The National Institute of Mental Health defines psychotherapy as “a variety of treatments that aim to help a person identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.” At SWPA, we offer psychotherapy for individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. We invite you to work with our experienced practitioners in a one-on-one capacity to develop deeper emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and growth.

Couples Counseling/Relationship Counseling

At SWPA, we also offer relationship therapy within monogamous, ethical non-monogamous (ENM), or polyamorous partnership dynamics. We prefer to think of relationship structures that are not monogamous as “more-than-monogamous,” and we understand the rich and rewarding experience of having multiple partners to do life with. We work with you to explore what is possible within your relationship, helping to foster a deeper sense of connection and trust. However you identify in your most intimate relationships, you are welcomed and safe with the team at SWPA.

Psychiatry

Psychiatry can help you maintain a functional and peaceful quality of life through supportive medication and treatments. At SWPA, we offer in-house psychiatry services through Dr. Jeanette Christensen, DO, who practices integrative healthcare, which combines conventional medical practices with complementary and alternative therapies such as psychedelic medicine (ketamine therapy and psilocybin therapy are forthcoming here at SWPA), acupuncture, massage therapy, and mindfulness meditation.

Group Psychotherapy

We recognize that pursuing healing individually may not be the right fit for every client, so we offer Group Therapy for those who would like to pursue healing in community with others outside of their intimate relationships. It can sometimes be helpful to engage with others facing similar challenges, learn from one another, and validate one another’s experiences as you all grow together.

Coaching

Coaching exists as a separate offering from psychotherapy or psychiatry to support people who are actively aligning themselves with their values, their purpose, and their vocation. Coaching is about creating and sustaining forward momentum in one’s life through the objective perspective of someone professionally trained to identify internal barriers to external success. Coaching is not a therapeutic or clinical relationship, and clients seeking work in these areas will be referred out for therapeutic services.

LPC Supervision

Speaking Engagements

Our experts are excited to share our knowledge and experience with your team or audience through keynote speaking addresses, podcasts, interviews, and workshops. We are available to contribute on topics like leadership development, collaboration and facilitation of trust, diversity/equity/inclusion (DEI), and understanding the impact of individual identity on team dynamics. Whatever your goals are for your audience, our practitioners can offer knowledge of human dynamics to support you.

LCSW Supervision

Dr. Ty Lerman has been a clinical supervisor since 2012, and an LPC-Supervisor with the Texas State Board since 2015. His theoretical approach to counseling is largely based in Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In accordance with state regulations, supervision usually entails alternating individual and group weekly meetings.

Ty has thoroughly enjoyed the cyclical process of both having and being a mentor in his teaching background and clinical experience. He finds the process of helping other therapists develop their clinical skills and flourish to be highly rewarding. As a certified hypnotherapist, he is also able to incorporate supervising the practice of hypnosis in clinical settings.

Andrea Washington has been a LCSW-Supervisor with the Texas State Board since 2009. She brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her role as a Supervisor and offers clinicians the opportunity to more deeply understand the intersectionalities of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, age, and class. She also offers extensive experience in providing care to clients experiencing addiction and recovery issues, relationship problems, family of origin issues, trauma, codependence, and grief.

Her educational and professional background, combined with her passion for helping others to embrace their capacity to help others heal themselves makes her an ideal LCSW Supervisor for students wishing to complete their studies and go on to become clinical practitioners.
